RIB Transport from the UK to Greece

OVERVIEW

We received an urgent request to transport a 9m RIB on its own trailer from Dartmouth, England to Corfu, Greece.  The client needed an experienced European boat transporter to get the boat safely to its destination on a very tight timescale. We provided a competitive quotation including full transit insurance cover.

THE CHALLENGE

The boat had been purchased by a private individual who owned a holiday home in Corfu. They needed the boat to arrive before the start of their holiday so that they could enjoy using it with their family.

OUR SOLUTION

We liaised with the client’s customs agent to ensure that all of the documents required for the export and import were in place to prevent any delays crossing borders.

We planned the route carefully, taking into account the size of the boat.  There were 3 ferry crossings involved (Dover - Calais, Ancona - Igoumenitsa and Igoumenitsa - Corfu), which all had to be carefully coordinated to ensure the trip went smoothly with minimal waiting time.

Our experienced driver carefully checked the boat and trailer over before hitching up, including checking the tyre pressures and adding additional straps to ensure that it was secure.

We liaised with both the yacht broker who had sold the boat regarding collection arrangements and the boatyard in Corfu regarding delivery arrangements. We sent daily updates to the client along with photos at all stages of the journey.

The RIB on trailer was towed behind one of our Mercedes Sprinter vans. These vans are capable of towing trailers up to 3500kg. They are fitted with tachographs for legal towing and have been converted to provide comfortable accommodation for the driver on long trips like this.

The boat was delivered safely on time to a very excited customer and his family to enjoy their holiday in the sun.
